Political Youth

While wandering the corridors of the Scottish parliament and meeting some young parliamentary officers I became interested in the type of person that is attracted by politics. Are they driven by the same need for change as those that took part in the occupy protest movement in 2011? Do they all set out with the goal of being a head of state one day? I was struck by the fact that in the next few years Scotland could split from the UK- Some of these young people could be running a new small country within the next decade. Who are these would be leaders before they become polished by media training and years spent in the public eye? What sets them apart from those of us who use the democratic vote as our primarily method of influence? In order to answer these questions I set out to photograph some of the young people who are members of political parties in Scotland today.
